I prefer Vanille over Hope as a Medic just because she learns a lot of the abilities before Hope does, her Healer’s Staff, and her higher HP. She also has good synergy with Sazh and Hope (SAB+SYN=FTW).

I love this! “dont have sazh as a commando” is what i heard from that basically…so i took sazh, bam fully leveled commando and whhapow, he is the strongest member of my party with the highest average damage on his blitz attacks etc…hurray for IGN XD lol

this strategy is only useful in the first 10 chapters. after ur characters gained all 6 roles, u have more freedom
i always use the team lighting/hope/vanille.
- healing takes under 5 seconds
- best chaining because hope and vanille are the best ravagers
- kick ass as lightning
- my three fav characters anyway
though i sometimes use snow instead of hope if i need a good sentinel, he’s also a pretty sharp saboteur when teamed with vanille.

@kingdomdreams1 trust me you won’t find them on ebay serah’s neckles is solid silver and lightnings necles is rare and expensive so don’t waste ya time try looking for a l’cie sighn or somthing it might be easyer

@Xclann Fang is the best Commando (highest strength, Highwind), Saboteur (SOMETIMES, Vanille beats her only when she uses Death/Poison, but Fang has a more useful debuff arsenal than Vanille overall), Synergist (ONLY when -ra buffs are needed, only she and Vanille has those).

A good tactic for defense is to have a Paradigm made up for three Sentinels; this will greatly reduce the damage your team receives overall due to the increased defense of each character boosted by the ‘characters take less damage’ effect of having a sentinel in your party (and having THREE does a lot).
If you switch to this Paradigm right before he uses a move that’s gonna kill you, you stand a better chance of surviving; quickly switch to triple Medic or whatever and heal (and then carry on).
I managed to beat him but with a differecnt strategy.
I used team of Lightning, Snow, and Vanille using (Com, Sen, Med) (Rav, Rav, Rav) and (Syn, Com, Sab) I managed to beat him in about 12 minutes and got 4 stars.
@ishoot8 You should have no need for shrouds, if you do then that means that your crystal thingy on your characters suck ass.
Used your guide, my chars wer’nt as high in stats as yours, and I still 5 star him! (No summon) Thanks!
Guys this fight is easy as long as you have a strategy or if you GRIND like crazy I had grinded till I had 5,000 health around there and I live through the whole fight this fight is easy actually just with being patient.
I finally beat him, using this video! thank you! the next boss is pretty hard too!

wat if i dnt have a egisol or a foristal……i tried yur guide without them becuase i didnt have….is there any way of beating him without these?????

I have been trying to beat this bitch with all of them and they all suck until this battle team helped me out and finally beat it now i can continue through the game thanks but the difference was i have everyone to level four now to chapter 13 thanks alot

Bleh I keep getting him to half of his health with this guide which is helpful cause I was getting him down to about 70% to 80% of his health before. I don’t even know why I’m bothering to beat this game, I don’t even like it. It has to be one of the worst FF games along with the FFVII series.
I cant even get 10% of his life bar down, I think this game really rewards nerds who spend hours finding every single little monster and item before getting to this guy
who made this game is an asshole takes 45min to fight the guy then when he is almost dead then he use a doom day and if you die anther 45min how long do you have to fight this guy for they should make it 15min max

Thanks dude, I spent hours with Light, Fang, and Hope and couldn’t beat him. I kept getting “Doomed”. I tried it your way and beat him first try.
@MegaThunderstrike just make sure you have a medic that can cast esuna, or have a ring that can decrease your likelyhood of getting daze. Yeah he kept on trying to cast doom on me and succeeded. Yeah he’s super annoying.
man i remember when i fought this boss Beat him on the first try but almost didnt cuz of his damn doom or whatever its called (was a long time since i played) had like 1-3 seconds left when he died xD
