This boss just goes to highlight how MENTILE some of the art style is in this game. The graphics are amazing, and most of the game has great aesthetics, but… I doubt anyone had any words on their mind other than “What the shit” upon encountering Orphan. Pretty much all of the Fal’Cie’s, and Eidolons in this game are total mindfucks as far as their appearance is concerned.
For the record, I do love this game – just wanted to give my opinion on how weird some of the art was…

I love the soundtrack to this fight and the Barthandelus fight. Orphan kinda looks like he could have been one of the boss fights in Bayonetta. Does anybody else agree?
This is pure nostalgia. The design could have easily found its way into an oldschool 2d FF like FF6. The style is like Safer Seph, with one arm on the right and wings on the left and a ‘halo’ on the back.
gotta admit, as weird as fighting a .. winged clock hand sword 3 faced thing is… the soundtrack was pretty epic

Or… because it’s just not a very good game? It’s the bare minimum quality a game needs to deserve success at best, a trait it shares with all the Final Fantasies.

You can say the style is cool all you want, it doesn’t keep Orphan from having even less substance than Kefka or Sephiroth. And having less substance in a character than Sephiroth is an accomplishment for a game.
