Final Fantasy XIII Boss Fights #? – Barthandhelus (Oerba) Part 1
Alright, this was the biggest stumbling block in the game for me so far and I couldn’t find much info on him, so I figured this might come in handy for anyone else stuck on this guy, so I’m moving it ahead in the queue to get it out a little sooner, I’ll update the title with the relevant number when I reach it chronologically. ***Minor 3rd disc, chapter 11, spoilers follow. *** This is the second encounter with Barthandhelus shorly after reaching Oerba. He has 3.3 million hit points, does a fair bit of damage and throws status defuffs of all flavours very frequently. This is from my first playthrough, so I’ve made some earlier mistakes with levelling, etc, which is why I may be underpowered for this point in the game, however I can’t imagine I’m the only one who’s has such problems, so I’m uploading anyways in case it helps someone. My strategy for this basically boils down like this: – Manually spam Cura on Vanille. – Try and keep haste up at all times, debuffing Barth while haste is being applied. – If someone is given a bad debuff, manually cast esuna along with a cura. – If Vanille gets afflicted with silence, heal with potions (While equipped with the Doctor’s Code accessory) until it wears off. – If Vanille gets afflicted with Stop wait for Barth to hit her to cancel it, healing with potions if necessary. – Get down on your knees and pray that he doesn’t cast Doom on the leader. The two times I had Doom cast on me, I didn’t have many items to try and get rid of it …

Folks, There is no crazy strategy involved level wise. Your crystarium always gets capped at specific intervals, SO always make sure you have the HP, magic & strength orbs done. You NEED to have some upgraded equipment. You cant honestly expect to hurt an enemy with a lvl 1 weapon no matter how wild your paradigm gameplan might be. I used my all girls team and I beat him on the first try. Lightning was team leader; summoned once. used renew twice when he was trying harder to kill me. Thats it.

I still have not been able to beat this boss and I’ve been grinding forever. I even got this game pre-ordered and all the grinding I’ve done cant help me here, fucking doom.
old Video I know but trust me theres no such thing as underfarmed.. People do this without CPU O_O.. Yeah crazy. but Manually healing is not good.. The heal bots they have in the game work fine.. the only thing that sucks with them is their abllity to use Esuna correctly. Another thing spamming Cura alone doesnt work you use cura if tthey havnt taken damage recently and Curaja if they JUST took large amounts of damage.. that way it covers for it. Also not spending enough time attacking.
i just got to this part i almost beat him then he casted doom & i died TTwTT but right now my brother is trying to beat it for me XD

I always summoned near the end of doom, and then my Odin just revived me after doom ran out o_o
lol every one complains about doom. doom never efected me that fight
I spent like a half an hour on this boss and it cast doom on my leader. I hate this game.
too bad u cant rid of doom like in Final Fantasy XII
um people people, he casts doom at a certain TIME i think its around 14 mins, has nothin to do with his health ._. and my onlyy tip is grinddd to beat him im still stuck on him so ill tell you how that goes…

@Baka461 They do, it’s called dispelga, but it also takes away enhancements, AND it takes away Barthandeluses good/bad enhancements as well.
I wish they had something like esunga or esunera so you can take the bad ailments off everyone :/

god! im still stuck in the fucking gran pulse fields, i was going to follow the falcie to oerba, but i tried to go through the tunnels to get past the rolling spiked falcie, but couldnt so then i decided go after the flying falcie, thing is im lost and cant find the way, ive been to the ruins and the crashed ship….then 4 dead ends.
it is normal if cast doom when he have 2/3 of is life ?
well, there is one way to get rid of that accused Doom. Summon your Eidolon and get Barthandelus to kill you, and then your Eidolon will use Arise and leave. Then Doom will be gone. The only problem is Barthandelus isn’t strong enought to kill you quickly enough before your Eidolon cures you….
Did this battle a good 30 times. Quit playing for two weeks, and tried again. took me 5 tries. I hate Sazh so much and yet he’s the only one with Haste. I ended up casting Slow on him every chance I got. Eventually I KNEW when he was about to get rid of status ailments. Timed everything perfectly and killed him w/o a summon, or a cast of doom. Oh right I beat him with Lightning, Fang, and Hope. I love how challenging these fights are. Looking for many more innovating achievement from ya Square

So I was using your stragity…… Got him down to 10% health (approx). Then he casts doom on me, I use my summon, takes him down to about 2% health, then doom eventually kills me. I soubt Square Enix would ever read this, but FUCK YOU SQUARE ENIX, YOU ARE THE PINNICLE OF SUCK AND FOR MAKING DOOM COMPLETELY UNFUCKING REMOVABLE YOU SHOULD BE SHOT I THE FUCKING FACE, GIVE ME 30 MINS OF MY FUCKIN LIFE BACK.

@xDarkTemplar Si, Leona Lewis ha accettato di far inserire la sua canzone nel gioco, ed è diventata una soundtrack, ma non avendoci giocato, non so dirti in quale parte del gioco è stata messa. Probabilmente nella parte finale. XD
parlare di final fantasy come un gioco è un eresia, poichè final fantasy è UN OPERA D’ARTE INESTIMABILE, e final fantasy XIII non fa eccezione
@tapione ormai il vecchio compositore se ne andato col creatore di ff e fondarono la mistwalker , e si sente su tutto se ascolti le musiche di lost odissey sono le migliori mai composte per un game

Sono già al terzo CD e se penso che a breve lo finirò mi mette molta tristezza.. è veramente un gioco splendido, anche se concordo con il punto a sfavore per quanto riguarda le aree non esplorabili come i vecchi final fantasy. io ricordo che nell’8 così come nel 7, non facevo altro che perdermi -.-
Ma la canzone alla fine del video fa parte della colonna sonora? .__.
Squaresoft era sull’orlo del precipizio.
Poi arriva Enix: il precipizio.
il solo problema di questo final fantasy è che non esiste un cattivo che ti possa far provare odio… sembra una banalità ma credo sia uno dei pochi difetti
ma basta ragazzi… tutti i final fantasy sono bellissimi.
La Storia e la grafica sono sempre state le punte di questa saga e, in secondo piano l’esplorazione…
Ma poi scusa che cavolo volete esplorare le zone che avete già visitato? Avete così bisogno di mostrare la vostra virilità su animaletti che possiedono la metà degli HP di un vostro singolo attacco?
L’unica cosa che ho notato di brutto è che il carattere dei ‘cattivi’ non è così forte…

Volendo essere pignoli anche il fatto che siano definiti japanese-rpg è sbagliato in generale perchè per essere vero gioco di ruolo dovresti aver l’opportunità di determinare tu stesso l’andamento della storia principale e la caratterizzazione dei personaggi.
Io non sono molto amante di tutti questi generi ed anche per questo tendo ad identificarli con un unico tipo, anche se dalla mia ho provato solo j-rpg: ff & legend of dragon.
@NarutoKunITA ff non è un rpg ma un jrpg…. c’è molta differenza tra i 2 generi. è come paragonare FF VII a morrowind. non ha senso.
a me è piaciuto molto.
devo esser sincero, i jrpg non sono per nulla il mio genere preferito, ma final fantasy va giocato. è stato stravolto parte del gameplay ma direi che era ora di provare a cambiare. e a me non è dispiaciuto affatto. le 130 ore di gioco salvate sulla mia play3 penso parlino da sole….
poi i personaggi e la trama sono caratterizzati benissimo…. forse è la trama piu’ curata dell’intera saga. e anche i personaggi hanno una descrizione molto curata.
io lo consiglio…
l’ho quasi finito ed è semplicemente FANTASTICO
E poi io penso che gli RPG debbano tutto alla trama, non sono giochi che puntano sul gameplay, e questo FF credo che sulla trama si sia tenuto a livelli veramente alti.
Quindi io da non-fan della serie non comprendo le critiche che specialmente in Giappone sono state rivolte al titolo.
Non sono un amante degli RPG e questo FF mi è piaciuto di più rispetto agli altri.
Credo che i cambiamenti che voi amanti della serie contestiate siano stati una scelta della Square per estendere il mercato anche a chi, come me, l’RPG non piace perchè vuole più azione e meno perdere tempo a esplorare.

ma ragazzi i combattimenti e la grafica del gioco sono l’anima di ff, come fa a non piacervi il sistema di combattimento?Parere mio non potevano fare di meglio!

Per moltissime persone, me compresa, le missioni secondarie, pur essendo alcune divertenti e belle da compiere, ti annoiano per vari motivi:
1-il gioco non lo finisci più e poi ti stanchi di giocarci (io con il 12 sono da mesi che non ci gioco e sono quasi alla fine del gioco)
2-perdita di tempo, fare missioni secondarie lunghissime per una misera ricompensa
3-tolgono tutto il divertimento di ff, e ti distraggono dalla trama facendoti dimenticare le cose accadute in precedenza
è in bel FF però ci sono rimasto male dovevano restare il tema musicale originale quello jap nn my hands certo è una bella canzone ma nn è di FF ma è un brano preso e inserito nel gioco lessi in un intervista ke hanno fatto questa scelta xkè la cantante (koda kumi se nn sbaglio) aveva prob con la traduzione e quindi hanno optato x my hands però cavolo potevano prendere leona e farle cantare il tema jap tradotto come hanno fatto con FFX ke real emotion era sia jap ke inglese e anke americano.

@SquallML dalla voglia di finirlo in maniera decente (decente secondo standard da vero finalfantasyano, he), ma ha delle trovate davvero brutte…scusa Square, ma la penso davvero così; il XIII lo conosco pochissimo ma mi ispira davvero molto. Insomma, è impossibile paragonare ciò che ha fatto la Square da quando si è Enixata con i suoi giochi precedenti, ma preferisco rimanere fiducioso per il futuro. Basti pensare che per il XIV ci sarà il “ritorno” di Nobuo Uematsu.
@Th3KingOfTh3Darkness Spero che ti sbagli, anche se son stato portato anch’io a pensarla così, negli ultimi tempi. Voglio dire, dopo il X cosa c’è stato: l’X-2, che ha parecchie cose piacevoli, ma non riesco neanche a paragonarlo ai migliori FF; l’XI, che personalmente non conosco, e cmq merita un discorso a parte…;il XII? ci sto giocando e anche parecchio ma giusto perchè ormai non posso tirarmi indietro, no? Ho cominciato una partita, sono arrivato verso la fine, e mi sono fatto prendere…
