What Gage speaker wire should I use for a 15″ Alpine type R?
Question by BEAT DA TRUNK: What Gage speaker wire should I use for a 15″ Alpine type R?
It is a 15″ 2 Ohm alpine type R with a 750 rms and 2000 peak.
Im just running this one sub off an alpine mrp-m850 amp. 800rms 1600 peak. I have more subs but on a diff amp.

You can go with 14 – 16 gauge.
Then for a power wire, 1/0 gauge would be best, but 4 gauge would work good too.

you can always go big but don’t go smaller than about 14 AWG
The Best thing to have would be a 4 Gage power wire 4 Gage ground and 10 or 12 Gage for the wire to the subs from the amp. What type of amp do you have? How do/ will you have them wired?
14-16 gauge is plenty for a short run from the amp to the sub. 10-12 gauge is overkill, you would never be able to tell a difference.
